11 Day North India with Pushkar
Highlights:
Day 1: Arrive in Delhi
Welcome to India! Upon arrival, collect your luggage and meet our travel facilitator at the airport. You will be transferred to your hotel in a chauffeur-driven vehicle and assisted with check-in. After settling in, the travel facilitator will provide your travel documents and a brief overview of the next day's program.
Day 2: Delhi Morning: Start your exploration in Old Delhi, which was the center of the Mughal Empire. Visit the Red Fort, known for its imposing 1.24-mile long red sandstone walls. Enjoy a cycle rickshaw ride through the vibrant alleys of Chandni Chowk, passing sacred temples and old houses. Visit Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque, and Raj Ghat, the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi.
Afternoon: Move on to New Delhi, built by the British. Visit Qutub Minar, the 234 feet high Victory Tower built in 1193. Drive past India Gate, the memorial to 90,000 Indian soldiers. Explore Humayun’s Tomb, a beautiful Mughal red sandstone structure. Tour Lutyen’s New Delhi, including the Diplomatic enclave, Government buildings, Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, and Birla Temple. End your day at Connaught Place, a major shopping and business hub.
Day 3: Delhi – Agra
Check out from your hotel after breakfast and drive to Agra (approximately 4 hours). Arrive and check in to your hotel.
Afternoon: Visit the Agra Fort, built by Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565 AD. Explore the fort’s courtyards, chambers, and marble mosque. Next, see Itmad-ud-Daulah, a marble tomb built by Nur Jahan in memory of her father.
Late Afternoon: Visit the Taj Mahal, the iconic white marble mausoleum built by Shah Jahan for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Admire the intricate pietra dura inlay work and the symmetrical design.
Day 4: Agra – Jaipur
Check out by noon and drive to Jaipur. Enroute, visit the Chand Baori stepwell in Abhaneri, one of the largest and oldest stepwells in Rajasthan with 13 levels. Arrive in Jaipur, known as the ‘Pink City,’ and check in to your hotel.
Day 5: Jaipur Morning: Drive to Amber Fort, located 7 miles north of Jaipur. Ascend the fort on an elephant (or jeep) and explore its opulent interiors, including the Sheesh Mahal or Hall of Mirrors.
Afternoon: Continue to the City Palace Complex, which blends Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. Visit the Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory, and the Hawa Mahal, or Palace of Winds, a five-storey building with an intricate façade of windows.
Day 6: Jaipur – Pushkar
After breakfast, drive to Pushkar. Arrive and check in to your hotel.
Afternoon: Explore Pushkar, known for its 400 temples and the Brahma Temple, the only temple dedicated to Lord Brahma. Visit the holy lake and its surrounding Ghats, and stroll through the village bazaar.
Day 7: Pushkar – Jodhpur
Enjoy a camel safari in the semi-arid region near Pushkar. After lunch, check out and drive to Jodhpur. Arrive and check in to your hotel.
Day 8: Jodhpur Morning: Visit Mehrangarh Fort, perched on a hill and spread over 5 sq. km. Explore its palaces and museums, including Moti Mahal (Pearl Palace), Sukh Mahal (Pleasure Palace), Sheesha Mahal (Mirror Palace), and Phool Mahal (Flower Palace).
Afternoon: Visit Jaswant Thada, a 19th-century cenotaph made of marble with intricate carvings, built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II.
Day 9: Jodhpur – Udaipur
Check out in the morning and drive to Udaipur. Enroute, visit Ranakpur, famous for its 15th-century Jain temples. The Chaumukha Temple, with its 1444 intricately carved marble pillars, is a highlight.
Evening: Arrive in Udaipur and check in to your hotel.
Day 10: Udaipur Morning: Visit the City Palace, a complex of buildings with glasswork, mirror work, ornamental tiles, and paintings. Explore the Crystal Gallery and enjoy the views from balconies, courtyards, and towers.
Afternoon: Visit Saheliyon-ki-Bari, an 18th-century garden, and the local museum.
Evening: Enjoy a sunset cruise on Lake Pichola and visit Jagmandir if available. The lake features two islands and offers scenic views of the city.
Day 11: Udaipur – Delhi
Relax at your hotel in the morning. Check out by noon and drive to the airport for your mid-afternoon flight to Delhi. Services end at Udaipur airport.
