6 Day Golden Triangle Tour

6 Day Golden Triangle Tour

Highlights:

Day 1: Arrive in Delhi

Welcome to India! Upon arrival, collect your luggage and meet our travel facilitator at the airport. You will be escorted in a chauffeur-driven vehicle to your hotel for check-in. Once settled, our travel facilitator will provide your travel documents and a brief overview of the next day's program.

Day 2: Delhi

Begin your exploration of India in Old Delhi, the Mughal Empire's citadel between the 17th and 19th centuries. Visit the impressive Red Fort, built in 1648, with its 1.24-mile-long red sandstone walls. Enjoy a thrilling cycle rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk's vibrant alleys, past sacred temples, and fascinating architecture. Visit Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque built by Shah Jahan in 1658, and Raj Ghat, Mahatma Gandhi's cremation site on the Yamuna River.

In the afternoon, explore New Delhi, built by the British as a regal capital. Visit Qutab Minar, a 234-feet-high sandstone Victory Tower built in 1193. Drive past India Gate, a 138-feet-high stone arch of triumph honoring Indian Army soldiers, and visit Humayun’s Tomb, a beautiful Mughal red sandstone structure. Drive through Lutyen’s New Delhi, the Diplomatic enclave, Victorian-era government buildings, Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, and the Hindu Birla Temple. End your tour at Connaught Place, New Delhi’s main shopping, business, and tourist center.

Day 3: Delhi – Agra

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and drive to Agra (about 4 hours) on North India’s newest highway. Upon arrival, check into your hotel.

In the afternoon, visit the massive red sandstone Agra Fort, built by Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1565 AD, and later converted into a palace by Shah Jahan. Visit Itmad-ud-Daulah, an exquisite marble tomb built in 1628 by Mughal Emperor's queen, Nur Jahan, in memory of her father.

Late afternoon, visit the Taj Mahal at sunset. This spectacular white marble mausoleum, one of the seven wonders of the world, was built by Shah Jahan for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, in 1653 AD. The Taj Mahal's intricate pietra dura inlay work and symmetrical minarets make it a breathtaking monument.

Day 4: Agra – Jaipur

Check out of your hotel by noon and drive to Jaipur, stopping en route to visit the Chand Baori stepwell at Abhaneri. This 8th-century stepwell is one of Rajasthan's oldest, deepest, and largest, with a depth of 20 meters and 13 levels. Arrive in Jaipur, the vibrant capital of Rajasthan, also known as the 'Pink City,' and check into your hotel.

Day 5: Jaipur

After breakfast, drive 7 miles north of Jaipur to visit the Amber Fort and Palace. Ascend to the fort on a caparisoned elephant (or jeep) and explore the fort's fascinating interiors, including the Sheesh Mahal, or Hall of Mirrors.

In the afternoon, continue your tour of Jaipur city. Visit the City Palace Complex, a blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. Explore the Jantar Mantar observatory and the Hawa Mahal, a pink sandstone building with intricate windows. Enjoy the bustling market place surrounding the Hawa Mahal.

Day 6: Jaipur – Delhi – International Flight

Check out from your hotel after breakfast and drive to Delhi through Rajasthan's scenic fields, towns, and villages. Arrive in Delhi and board your international flight. Use any remaining hours for last-minute sightseeing or shopping based on your interests. Your vehicle and driver will stay with you until your (usually late evening) assisted check-in at the airport.
